Zia
Zia is an eleven year old (French DVDs) Inca girl who was kidnaped and taken
from her home and father by the conquistador Francisco Pizarro, who makes her
a present for Princess Marguerite of Spain. Five years later, Mendoza steals
Zia away from the palace in Barcelona at the order of Captain Perez and Commander
Gomez. Gomez has been commanded by the now Governor Pizzaro to return to him
with Zia, as the Governor has learned that she can read a message that will
lead to the Cities of Gold. Aboard the ship Esperanza, Zia meets Esteban and
they instantly become fast friends. Zia hopes that the quest for the Cities
of Gold will reunite her with her lost father.
Normally gentle and kind hearted but also brave and strong
willed, Zia is always willing to help others, no matter what the
cost is to herself. Her experiences have made her hate Spaniards
and she never trusts Mendoza, Sancho or Pedro.
Zia wears the second Medallion of the Sun which has been passed
down to the eldest daughter in her family for generations. She
seems to be about the same age as Esteban and can read the golden
quipus (an Inca form of communication that uses strings and knots
to keep records) which give clues leading to the Cities of Gold.
