Tao
Tao (age 13 according to the French DVDs) is the last descendant of an ancient
empire called Heva. His people were the ones who built the Solaris, the Golden
Condor, and the Seven Cities of Gold. For years, Tao lived alone on a group
of islands with only the incredibly intelligent parrot Kokaptl for company.
But legends told him that one day a young girl with dark eyes would come to
his islands and she would lead him to the lands in the East. Tao knew immediately
when he saw Zia that the prophecy was being fulfilled, but other legends revealed
to him that one of the Cities of Gold would be destroyed. Tao believes it to
be his duty to find the Cities of Gold.
Tao is very intelligent and can understand the technology
left behind by his ancestors. He carries an encyclopedia that
contains the knowledge of his people and a strange golden jar
that cannot be opened. Though he can be bad tempered, Tao is really
good and courageous. He often fights with Esteban, but the two
are really the best of friends.
I've always thought that Tao was a little older than Esteban and Zia (though
I cannot be certain of this) and I would guess that he is 13 -14 years old.
