Andeanna Camões - The twelve year old cabin "boy" of the Estrela da Noite. Alfonso Camões - Captain of the Estrela da Noite and Anda's father. Ayala Pedroza - MCoG Gomez's wife. Alfonso Pedroza - Ayala Pedroza's father, Gomez's father-in-law. Diego de Mendoza - Mendoza's father. Don Antonio de Medina - Elena's father, Mendoza's Grandfather. Don Felipe - A rich nobleman from Scott O'Dell's books. Elena de Medina y Mendoza - Mendoza's mother. Hisoka - A mysterious sailor who joins the Estrela's crew at Malacca. He teaches Mendoza various martial arts. José (Yaxche) - A Maya enslaved by Quentín Gamboa. Juan - A servant in the Gomez's household. Julian Escobar - I actually didn't create this character, Scott O'Dell did. In my story, Julian is Mendoza's best friend as a child. Maria Zuñiga - Elena's friend and servant. Maria takes care of Mendoza. Quentín Gamboa - Commander of the garrison at Santiago de Cuba. A friend of Gomez's. |

Almso -Bocacio de Almso is an able seaman aboard the Trinidad. He is part of Argot's fleet. Andrew of Bristol - the Trinidad's gunner and the only Englishman in the fleet. He dies of scurvy just as the fleet is leaving the Island of Thieves. Antonio Pigafetta - An Italian adventurer who sailed with Magellan. We owe much of our knowledge of Magellan's voyage to his journal. Argot - Roldán de Argot is a Flemish gunner in the fleet. He leads a group of seamen that discovers where the strait open into the Pacific. Barbosa - Duarte Barbosa is Magellan's brother-in-law. He becomes the captain of the Victoria after the mutiny. Bustamete - Hernando de Bustamete is a barber aboard the Trinidad. He is also part of Argot's expedition. Calmette - Berhard Calmette is a chaplain of the fleet who sides with Cartegena and is marooned with the mutineer when the fleet leaves San Julian. Carvalho - João Carvalho is the Concepcion's Portuguese navigator. Coca - Antonio de Coca briefly serves as captain of the San Antonio. He is one of Cartegena's fellow conspirators and possibly his brother. Cristovão - is a supernumerary aboard the Trinidad but, more importantly, he is Magellan's son. Diego Velásquez - The conqueror of Cuba and its Governor. Elorriaga - Juan de Elorriaga was the San Antonio's master but he was murdered by Quesada. Enrique - Magellan's slave and confidant. Espinosa - Gonzalo Gómez de Espinosa is the Master-at-arms of the Fleet. Fonseca - Bishop Juan Rodriguez de Fonseca was an adversary of Magellan's. Gallego - Roderigo de Gallego is a friend of Mendoza's aboard the Victoria. He dies of scurvy when they cross the Pacific. Gomes - Estevão Gomes is the Portuguese Pilot Major (Navigator) of the Fleet. Hernán Cortés - The Aztec conqueror. At this time he is the Alcalde (Mayor) of Santiago de Cuba. Hernandez - Diego Hernandez is the mate aboard the San Antonio. Juan de Cartegena - Magellan's arch-rival who commands the largest ship in Magellan's fleet, the San Antonio. Luis de Mendoza - Mendoza's uncle. Luis de Mendoza was a real person who I used in this story. Mafra - Juan Rodriguez de Mafra is the San Antonio's navigator. Magellan - The famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan who, according to MCoG, taught Mendoza about Navigation. Mesquita - Álvaro de Mesquita is Magellan's cousin and becomes captain of the San Antonio when Coca proves untrustworthy. Molino - Luis Molino is Quesada's squire. He is forced to be Quesada's executioner after the mutiny. Noya - Antón de Noya is a crewman aboard the Trinidad. Padrarias Dávila - Governor of Panama (called Darien in the story) at this time. Pizarro - The Inca conqueror Francisco Pizarro, who is the Commander of garrison at Darien (Panama) at this time. Quesada - Gaspar de Quesada is another Captain in Magellan's fleet. His ship is the Concepcion. Rodas - The Victoria's Master's Mate Miguel de Rodas. Salamón - Antonio Salamón is the Victoria's master. San Martín - The fleet's astronomer and astrologer. Serrano - Juan Rodríguez Serrano is Captain of the smallest vessel in Magellan's fleet, the Santiago. |
