Cities of Gold Stories by StephanieScully

Author's Description - MCoG REVISITED is set in the 21st century and once again features three kids, two boys and a girl, Ben, Matthew, and Stephanie. All California kids from different high schools, they were each set out on a class assignment to go with a married couple, Lionel and Alexis, who are tourists to find the legendary seven Cities of Gold and then right a short report on it. Along the way on board the ship, Ben and Stephanie discover they each have a bracelet that, when opened, will open up the doors to the buildings of the Cities of Gold. Along the way they learn special secrets about their bracelets. This group endures the theft of their ship and near-fatal instances, like where Stephanie almost drowns in a storm but Ben saves her life and gives her CPR, thus beginning a beautiful relationship when Stephanie kisses him after trying to avoid him for so long because he is such a "dweeb". Also, Stephanie almost gets sacrificed when a jealous Amazon tribal princess named Waki is jealous because Stephanie has Ben and she doesn't. Later Stephanie's sister Elizabeth joins the group. Matthew faces disappointment when a girl he likes turns out to be engaged and later doesn't return Elizabeth's crush on him, but in the end he will find true love with Gertrude, a girl from Europe.

Author's Description - In the story fifteen years will have passed since the cartoon's setting, so the year is 1547, set back in Barcelona. The kids have crossed the Pacific and found the rest of the seven cities of gold, and they're now all grown up. They flew back to Barcelona to prepare to meet Mendoza in the tavern, and Esteban shows them inside the cathedral where he grew up, and soon after he and Zia get married. They have two children and live in a house near Barcelona's cathedral, with Tao. The children, Miguel and Conchetta, are adventurous, and Miguel wants to fly the Golden Condor and make his daddy proud. "Papa, did you always like being up so high?" Zia overhears and says, "No, darling. Your father used to have a real fear of heights." "Zia, darling, I wouldn't say I was AFRAID...I would just get dizzy. Anyway, Miguel, my dear son, it takes a lot of coordination and concentration, and I don't feel like you're old enough yet." "But, Papa..."

Eventually Miguel disobeys and flies the condor with Conchetta inside. Miguel is six and Conchetta is four. They end up getting in trouble for it!

Meanwhile, Tao is lovesick, so Esteban agrees to set him up with a woman who keeps coming to the cathedral to make confessions who has a similar problem with lovesickness.

They eventually meet Mendoza, Sancho, and Pedro back at the tavern. Mendoza tells Esteban the story of what really happened to his father, and Esteban learns that the High Priest was his father. He is mad at Mendoza for not telling him the truth.

The Olmecs are attacking the Cities of Gold again, and it's up to our heroes to save them!
