The Mysterious Cities of Gold Code
Ever seen those Moonie or Geek, etc codes? Well, if you have,
then you probably know what this is. If not, here's how it goes.
This code can be used by MCoG fans to tell other fans what you
love/hate in the show and, if you want, info. about yourself.
Why am I doing this? To be honest, I don't know! ^_^
So here's how it works! The MCoG Code consists of several
sections that begin with a capital letter and is used to describe
how amazing and special you are!!! I'll tell you more as we go
along. ^_^ Remember to pay special attention to the case sensitivity!
Because there are so many other types of codes out there,
the first thing we need to do is indicate what kind of code this
is. Begin your code with something like:
MCofGCode (1.0) Okay, so there aren't any other versions.
Yet. ;)
Now let's determine how big a fan of MCoG you really are.

The most important section of the code is how devoted you
are to the show. To tell other fans how much you love Cities,
write
MCoG:
...and add a qualifier: (choose the one that matches you the
most)
0...You watched the show once, when your VCR was eating every
other tape you had and your TV was picking up nothing but static.
1...You watch MCoG only for Esteban. You think he's cute!
(hey, this was actually true with one of my sisters)
2...You think its just another show.
3...You try to convince yourself its just another show but
are really depressed that it isn't being shown on TV anymore.
4...You think it is a pretty cool show. You have taken to
surfing the net and have joined one of the mailing lists to find
out more about it.
5...You think it is one of the best shows ever produced, definitely
better than the stuff they put on TV now days. You actually post
to the mailing lists and have considered dressing up like one
of the characters for Halloween. You have a definite fascination
with ancient people and cultures as they relate to MCoG.
6...You actually did dress like one of the MCoG characters
during last Halloween. You have your own website devoted to the
show and have all the episodes on tape and have even purchased
some of the French or Japanese versions.
7...You have MCoG dreams.
8...You have all the episodes memorized
9...You went to school in a cape and sword and consequently
was kicked out (even though you did impress your history teacher.
"Where did you get that authentic 16th century sword?!")
!...You actually believe you_are_Esteban (or some other MCoG
character). You are his alter ego, his reincarnation --you talk
like him, act like him, feel like him, think like him, and dream
like him. You can actually control the Sun, too! You're his twin,
his clone, or whatever. You_are_him!!!
If you think you are somewhere between two of these categories,
pick the one that fits you most and add a "+" or a "-"
depending if you are more or less. Also, if you do things listed
in two or more _very_ different categories, write the one that
most closely matches you, then the _highest_ of the other categories,
enclosed in square brackets.
Example: I would probably rate myself as a 7+
Tell everyone your favorites!

Everyone has their favorites, and MCoG fans are no exception.
Its time to tell everyone who your favorite characters are and
how much you love them.
This is a new section so add a space after your MCoG rating,
then write:

We'll start with the heroes (if you don't have a favorite,
just skip this part) Write an "h" and choose up to _two_
of the following:
En...Esteban
Za...Zia
To...Tao
Ch...You don't have a favorite among the children. You like
them all!!
Ma...Mendoza
Po...Pedro (I guess these guys would be heroes 0.o)
So...Sancho
Ka...Kokapetl
Now, to the identifier of each one you choose add the qualifier:
blank...You like this character just a bit more than the others.
You don't even know why, but when MCoG is mentioned this character
comes to your mind.
+ ...You like this character and enjoy a discussion about
him/her. You look for pictures of him/her in MCoG websites.
++ ...You _really_ like this character. When watching MCoG,
you pay special attention to his/her actions. You join any discussion
about him/her and your computer is full of pictures of him/her.
Your website is a shrine dedicated to this character.
+++ ...The only reason you watch MCoG is to see this character.
You worship the ground he/she walks on. Anyone who doesn't agree
with you is your enemy and you are dedicated to converting them
to your belief.
As a _prefix_ to the qualifier, add:
< ...If you find this character less interesting then you
did a year ago.
blank...If your opinion about this character has been stable
for a long time and you doubt it'll change in the near future.
> ...If you feel your obsession with this character is increasing.
Like in the previous section, if you fit one category, but
also do some things described in the different, higher category,
do the following: write your category, then add the necessary
number of "+"s that, added to your existing category,
will form the symbol of the other, higher category you fit as
well. Enclose the additional "+"s in square brackets.
Example: Anyone that has been to my fanfic page knows that
I love Mendoza so my code would go something like F:hMa++[+].
While I don't hate people who don't like Mendoza, I will certainly
try to convert you. ;D
Some people not only like the heroes of MCoG, but the villains
as well. If you're one of them, add an extra part to your 'favorites'
section (if you have your favorite hero as well, separate these
two parts with a ":").
Write "v", then describe your feelings towards MCoG
villains in the same way you did for the heroes. Again, choose
up to _two_ of the following:
Gz...Gomez
Gr...Gaspar
Me...Marinche
Dr...The Doctor/Fernando Laguerra
Mr...Menatour
Kc...Kalmec
Ot...Other (If I left someone out that you feel should be included, email
me)
What about the supporting characters? Would MCoG be as great
without them? Probably not, so if you feel the need to state your
views about these people or groups of people write "o"
then give your opinions on your favorites as you did (or not)
for the heroes and villains:

Now tell us who you dislike.

If there are MCoG characters you dislike, list them in this
new section...the "dislikes" section.
Separate this section from the previous one with a space,
then write:

Construct this section exactly like you constructed your 'Favorites'
one but with different qualifiers:
blank...There is just something about this character that
you don't like.
- ...This character really gets on your nerves. You have no
idea how someone can like them, since it is obvious that this
character is a real jerk. You join threads on the mailing list
that are bashing this character.
-- ...You hate this character. You started the bashing threads.
--- ...You really, really, _really_ hate this character. If
this character was murdered one day, the police would be asking
for your alibi before anyone else. You think MCoG would be much
more interesting without this character and are thinking about
creating an anti-shrine about them.
The prefix added to the qualifier means:
< ...Your hostility towards this character is lessening.
blank...You don't like this character and that is that.
> ...This character ticks you off more and more each time
you see them.
Experience

How long have you been a MCoG fan? Do you drive your family
nuts singing the theme song all day long? Have you seen any other
versions of the series?
This description is another new section of the code so add
a space after the previous section and write:

First, let everyone know how long have you been one of the
"Children of the Sun"? For every full year that you
have been experiencing the wonder of MCoG, write the number of
years and a "*".
Example: I have been a fan since the show was on Nickelodeon, so X:14*
Now for episodes. How many episodes have you seen, what version
they are, and how often you have rerun them for your personal
entertainment. Put a ":" after the last part and keep
reading:

Well, you've come this far, why not add a little about yourself. Like the
previous sections, you can skip the parts you want to keep secret, and you can
use square brackets to fine-tune your answer.
Put a space after the last section, then write:

"How old is everyone?" Even on Goldlist, this question
comes up every once in a while. You can give an exact answer or
one of the vague ones below. Write "a" followed by your
age in years (only human please...dog years don't count ^_^)
Example: Here is my age as it would appear in the code P:a+
Some people don't like to give their exact age so here is
an alternate method:

Shape

We are all have different shapes and here is our chance to
let other MCoG fans know (or not ^_^). This part of the code is
divided into two parts but first separate this from your age with
a ":".
Now write "t" and tell us how tall you are. Because
I am from the United States, we'll use feet and inches. For those
who use the metric system, inch=2.54 cm and there are 12 inches
in a foot.
Example: I am 5'6" so I put down t56
If you don't know how tall you are, you can use a relative
scale:

- ...Same height as the children (or the Olmecs?).
blank...Taller than Sancho but shorter than Pedro. Your of
average height.

Now separate your height with the ":", follow by
"w". You can right down your weight exactly or use the
relative scale again.

Separate this from the last section with a ":" and

If your eyes are of different colors, separate the identifiers
for each eye with a "|".

group section after it. Other codes use it and I am just following
their example!! If you prefer not to answer, that is your choice

type in Japan is considered to fit certain personality types,

And, of course, you can add the "+" to indicate

(saggies rule ;p) on the mailing lists. Believe in them or not,
it can still be fun to know everyone's 'sign'.
